What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is the development of treatment and healing that has come from the study of the mind. The word is a collective to take such disciplines as psychodynamic therapy, counselling, cognitive and behaviour therapies. With my knowledge of psychology I can better evaluate the needs of my clients and have years of therapeutic experience to call on.

Psychotherapy often deals with longer-term problems, such things as a depressive episode, anger problems or those in the list on the site's home page. Longer-term problems of all sorts will often be fixed in place and need gentle care to remove them.

It can also deal with an immediate and specific problem, concern or crisis. Focus is on overcoming the effects of the situation and feelings. It draws on the client's own resources to cope more effectively and it can encourage the client to express deeply felt issues and concerns.
